Message from the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie
As you know, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Official Languages Act. This presents an ideal opportunity to take stock of our achievements in official languages over the last few decades and to look towards the future.
I am pleased to invite you to participate in the Symposium on the 50th anniversary of the Official Languages Act, which will be held on May 27 and 28, 2019, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
This event will bring together many key figures and stakeholders, as well as Canadians from across the country. We will take this opportunity to reflect on the rich discussions and issues raised during the series of forums and roundtables held in recent weeks on the modernization of the Act.
Our official languages are at the heart of the Government of Canada’s priorities, and now is the time for us to reaffirm the government’s leadership in promoting Canada’s two official languages. This is why I encourage you to attend the Symposium and to register now by following this link: https://www.symposium2019.ca.
Please accept my best wishes.
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, P.C., M.P.
